Hire a Princess has been taking part in #marchmeetthemaker, an Instagram challenge created by Joanne Hawker for small businesses to tell their story.
This blog post is a condensed version of Hire a Princess's Meet the Maker Week to give you a little of what goes on behind the scenes...
Meet the Maker Week
Day 1 and 2: WHO AND WHAT
Hello my name is Laura, I live in Northamptonshire and I have been running my business Hire a Princess for 7 years this year. I was born in the Middle East which is also where I started my business. When I was 14 I played Cinderella in a local Christmas pantomime, after the show I would meet and chat with the children from the audience which was so much fun. I was allowed to keep the dress which stayed in my cupboard until I returned home from University and I was thrilled to find it still fitted me! I would have loved Cinderella to come to my birthday party when I was little and I thought why don't I do that? This was the very first dress I had when I started Hire a Princess in 2011, my wish is to make magical experiences for children and their families, for them to have fun with their favourite fairy tale Princess characters. To sing, to dance, to play and make memories.
DAY 3: WORKSPACE
I have a small home office to store all of my Princess dresses and party props. Weekends are the busiest for party bookings, the dresses are taken to the dry-cleaners every week after being worn at parties for repairs and cleaning to help keep them looking their best!
Day 4: WHY ARE YOU A MAKER?
Why do I do Hire a Princess? I love making people smile! I started my business in 2011 in Bahrain and I wanted children who might not get the opportunity to travel to big theme parks a chance to meet their heroes. I visited orphanages, special needs schools, children in hospital, as I was taking bookings I was also hired by a party venue called Little Princess in Seef Mall to entertain as a Princess there. I love to perform and I love to share the joy of these characters with others to give them a happy experience!
DAY 5: SHOW YOUR BUSINESS IN ACTION
Here is a video from Sienna's 4th birthday party, if you listen carefully you can hear little voices singing along! The most important thing about performing as a Princess is knowing your character inside and out. I really try to give the full Princess package and know all of the words, the story, the songs, the mannerisms, the voice and personality to keep the magic and for children to experience it in real life!
Day 6: WHERE CAN WE BUY
I love the community spirit of social media to share my love of Princess magic with you all, if you would like to see more posts for the month of #marchmeetthemaker follow the Facebook page Hire a Princess Limited for recent party photos, videos and reviews.
